Individual and Organizational Vicarious Trauma Webinar Series - Part 4

The first 2 sessions of this webinar series will help staff who work directly with victims and other vulnerable populations to recognize signs of secondary and vicarious trauma and learn coping strategies to contribute to their health and well-being. Participants will learn about the differences between vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout and obtain tools to navigate individual stressors.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

• Explain two differences between vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout within individuals.

• Identify three ways vicarious trauma may impact team members.

• Discuss how race, identity, and culture impact the vicarious trauma staff experience.

• List three techniques for coping with vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout and ways to build personal resilience.

Then, building on the discussions from weeks 1 and 2 on identifying individual vicarious trauma, this series of two webinars will help staff to understand signs of organizational vicarious trauma and how this may affect their work. The webinars will prepare participants to identify and build strategies for organizational and individual resilience.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

• Describe two ways in which organizational vicarious trauma may affect team members.

• Learn ways to model self-care practices that contribute to a supportive and resilient work environment.

• Identify three strategies that facilitate a shift in organizational culture to becoming more vicarious trauma informed.

• building organizational resilience across teams and projects.
